I bought this MC275 from the estate of the original owner. This unit is totally original!
Amplifier has the original non-reissue Genalex KT-88's.
Also the 12ax7 & 12au7 are Telefunken's. The rest of the smaller tubes have the lettering worn off.
The only thing that is missing from this amp is the metal cage that goes over the tubes. I believe these are still available however.
The transformers are is great shape with only two minor nicks. The chrome chassis has the usual pitting throughout.
I did very little to polish the chassis as it is known to damage lettering. All pots and switches move freely.
All caps and wiring are original. The serial # 191E3. I was told by McIntosh this one dates from late 1962- early 1963.
The original MC275 were made from 1961-73, so this one is a early version!
I took the amplifier to a repair shop that works on vintage tube gear.
They powered it up on a variac over a 24hr period and It came to life and was briefly tested for equal sound output from both channels.
Unit passed the test! Then they tested the Genalex KT-88's. They are matched pairs.
One pr. tested out at 6250 and the other pr. at 6500. I was told that those #'s are very good and tubes have alot of life left in them.
The auction will also include MC275 owners manual and schematics. I also recently ordered a new MC275 shipping carton from McIntosh.
